Lovely antique jewelry box from the Victorian era. This larger celluloid dresser or trinket box is done in shades of brown with blended flowers that give the impression of marbling. The colored top features a young woman wearing a gown and bonnet. She's surrounded in an embossed ivory colored celluloid frame that's really intricately done. The interior is fully lined in golden peach satin and the box closes with an ornate gold metal clasp. The box is mid-weight and beautifully crafted.
Condition is very good overall with the image and top in really good shape. The right edge (half way down) has a light 1" scuff and the bottom edge on the left side has a 1/4" piece missing, please see photos. The bottom top has some discoloration and marks. The lining has spots and the cord trim has broken on the left side but is still intact. The clasp shows only minor wear. Please note the red stick is only there to hold up the lid for photos.
