I do not even come close to an expert on glass. I do not know if this is a Murano or not. It is, however, a really beautiful piece. This pheasant has multi-colored glass under the clear glass from its head through the body. The colors are bright and varied from yellow to blue and all of the colors in between. The beak, head top feathers, tail and base are all clear glass. The clear glass goes from his head and over his shoulders in wonderful protruding back and chest feathers. The glass on his body folds neatly into the narrow of his back to the tail, making a natural inward line. The tail on this magnificent bird is very long as it stretches upward from its back, and has the wonderful impression of many feathers as it narrows out to the end. You will see from the photos that the tail is much like the feather on an old quill pen. Very lovely.
There are no markings on this piece, and there are no stickers, so I cannot be sure of its origin. It does not appear to have gold flecks. I have seen Murano sculptures via the internet which have the same base, and are fashioned much the same, but they are not reliable sources, and may only be guessing. You would need to be the judge on this one.
