Ceramic Stoneware Pottery Casserole Baking top Dish Crock ~ Aqua oval

There is something VERY special about this little handcrafted oval baking dish. It's ideal for one or two servings, and though it may be small, it possesses a balance and even thickness that makes one want to cradle it in your hands. Preferably, with a warm serving top of scalloped potatoes inside. The entire body of this crock is made on the potter's wheel from one piece of clay and then carefully shaped. Extra-hefty coil handles on both sides make it easy to grab out of the oven with your mitts.

This casserole dish is made from a very fine-speckled clay, glazed inside in a soft, aqua-teal, and left in natural matte on the exterior and handles.

My baking dishes promise to bake your favorite goodies in style, as the thick ceramic body allows heat to distribute evenly in the oven. Look out, lasagna, scalloped potatoes, and baked ziti—just to name a few!

Casserole size is 9.5” wide (with handles), and the interior width is about 6.5” wide by 5.75” deep by about 2.25” high (3.5" high with those raised, hefty coil handles).

I use lead-free, food-safe glazes and color washes on all of my pottery pieces. Everything I make is oven-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe.

Blue Hen pottery is made by hand in my home studio in beautiful Tennessee, just a stone's throw from the Great Smoky Mountains. My clay bodies come from Highwater Clays and Kentucky Mudworks, which are mixed using the finest high-fire clay bodies from Kentucky and North Carolina. I have been throwing clay for over 20 years, focusing primarily on functional stoneware pieces for the kitchen.
