Greetings!
This is an original photograph, taken in Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado). With the 1803 Louisiana Purchase, the U.S. government acquired the land now known as Rocky Mountain National Park. Spanish explorers and French fur trappers skirted the area during their wilderness forays. Even Major Stephen H. Long, the explorer for whom the peak is named, avoided these rugged barricades in his famous 1820 expedition. So much to see, feel, touch, and explore here!
After an unusual spring snow storm (bringing much-needed water), I decided to head up to the mountains and see how much snow had touched the landscape. About eight inches! It was the perfect spring storm, providing water and blanketing the area with Colorado's famous “champagne power” – beautiful!
