Top Machine freestyle embroidery fabric and paper collage beach scene

I up cycle fabrics and with this piece, began with dyeing the cotton background before layering fabrics and papers up to create the effect of a beautiful beach. I use pieces top of maps, magazines, printed papers and different fabrics for this. I use my sewing machine to draw over the parts to secure them and add detail. Thie part brings all the pieces together and is the bit I love most. I often leave a project and return days or even months later to see how I feel about the piece in between the sewing stage. Finally I added some silk fibres to the lace and paper surf to create the desired effect.

My work is laid over wadding and then laced onto foam board ready for the owner to decide how to present the scene in its home.
