Award winning Arthur Lucario was born in 1942 and died in 2007. He was half Acoma and half Laguna Pueblo. He started as a silversmith making jewelry and eventually learned how to craft pottery and hand carve Hopi style kachinas.

His sister, Sally Garcia, inspired Arthur to turn from silversmith work to pottery making. Arthur specialized in hand etched ceramic pottery with red and black etchings. He painted on the colors and then crafted his designs on the pottery without the use of stencils!

He designed a variety of shapes and sizes, sometimes with the help of his wife, Velma Lucario.
